Swiftech Aquagate Mini 80/120

I know there are alot of biased people out there against watercooling kits but most of the people that have gotten this setup seem to love it.

Anyone here have an HONEST opinion on this setup? I'm looking for more cost effective and quiet over performance.

i just looked it up on newegg and i couldn't believe they have it for 50 bucks. its very compact. just two pieces. 20 to 30 decibels isn't excessively loud either. you know, for 50 bucks i don't see how you can go wrong with this setup. plus i like that it works with a wide assortment of sockets.

my koolance setup is similar to this but more of a 3 piece setup. waterblock, rad, and one piece pump/resevior. its not an overclocking king or anything, its just a cpu cooler.

which one were you thinking about getting, the 80 or 120 mm setup?

its actually rated at R80: 24.4 ~37.9 dBA R120: 21.3 ~ 35.32 dBA which is probably around 40 dba in reality.
you could get a heatercore and a cheap pump with a older style waterblock for close to 50.00 im sure and have way better cooling with less need for air movement which would mean much less noise.

using the heatercore setup is without a doubt the best performance for the money. the only difference is you got to get the parts and assemble the stuff yourself.

I've never seen a waterblock go for less than $35 or so and the fact that you get the entire setup for about $50 is what attracted me. Even if it is rated at about 40dba, I bet it would be less noisy than a fan since you wouldn't need extra case fans for airflow through the case like you do with air cooling.

which in theory is good, but in reality you are depending on that cooling for the protection of your cpu and motherboard. and the fact that if there is a leak your really risking everything. looking at the tubing and clamps on that thing says to me i can see why its 50.00
for 50.00 i would get a nice air cooler that only need a small amount of air to cool it.

these massive heatsinks need very little air movement to maintain a good temps. having a couple quiet case fans is usually good enough. but it really depends on what type of parts you have. like my system puts out massive amounts of heat and needs some major heat removal. but on an average system that isnt really overclocked you could pretty much have it silent with just air cooling if done properly. removing grills and anything that is resistant to airflo will reduce noise dramtically. the air moving makes no noise, its only when it comes in contact with resistance is what you hear.

I have a freezer 64 pro now, I was just considering one of these for a small case setup but I decided against it.

if you didnt care about the 50 bucks it would be worth it just to check it out and let everyone else have an honest review of it. but the air coolers they make now are so good its really put a damper on the number of people who watercool anymore
