Would a Heater Core be a good Rad for WC?

I had to change out my heater Core today found to core was good the plastic hoses were bad... So I have a 8"xW 9 1/2"H x1 3/4"D with 3/4"OD inlets

I would have to fab a shroud for both sides as my 120mm fans look rather small on it.

I have heard of people using trans coolers but never a heater core.

they do have larger fans but a properly made shroud would do wonders anyways.

there may be a larger fan that may fit though.

If you use that heatercore, make sure the inside is copper and not aluminum because that will give you all kinds of grief, in the form of galvanic corrosion.

Yeah dude I grabbed a very large 2-fan unit off of ebay for 17 bucks. Anything brass or copper will work perfect, so if it has copper tubes and brass top and bottom, that is cool.

smokey.
Heatercores are widely used in DIY setups all over the world.
Make a shroud for it (rather deep like 3-4", in respect to how small the fan is on it) Get yourself a better fan. prefferably one that is 38mm deep (120mmx38mm) and has a high pressure rating. Panaflo H1a or M1a or equivalent.

Dont worry about the rad being Alu. Just use sufficient antifeeze in your mix.
Assuming the core actually is 80% Alu do 60% Distilled Water + 40%Antifreeze (zerex or other).
But like rhino said, HCs are cheap you can get a dual 120 Core for $20 (FEDCO 2-302, Chevy Bonneville) ask you autoparts store.

Should be good to go.

I personaly use a 77 Boneville heater core, costs $20 at your local autozone and works like a charm.
