Progress has stalled. I need to find a new house and the one we were going to make an offer on turned out to be a dump so back to square one!

I need to also decide on how i'm gonna mount this in my case. As soon as I figure that out i'll start assembly and get pics!

If I would make progress and stop getting good offers on parts, I might get this done!

Every time I decide on what to do next with my rad, I get a good offer on something different.

This is going to turn out to be less of a franken-cooler and more of a regular water setup if I get a couple more deals.

Right now i'm working on getting a Swiftech MCR-220 and I figure if I snag that, I might as well get a good inline pump to replace the submersible one and just make it easier/more compact. Otherwise, assembly should start soon and I plan on at least clicking pics of the parts when I get home.

Even less progress!

I returned the pond pumps. This is becoming more of a regular cooler than a franken-cooler. After trying to make room for the rad, res and pump in my case, I decided the pond pump approach is a no-go. I took all 3 test units I had back and decided to go for the swiftech 655 pump for ease and look. I'll probably replace my rad with a MCR220/320 also so this will be a regular cooler. The franken has left the building!

Don't fear though, I do still plan on making the franken-cooler as soon as we get settled in our new house and I have a better work area.

The point of this entire process was to beat a TRUE at cooling. Since a TRUE won't fit in my case without me hacking the side up, the easiest way to do that is with watercooling.

I thought I could get all the water components in my case but when going cheap, I gave up ease and smaller size. After fighting to make things fit, work and seeing what I would need to do to force it to work, I decided buying better components could resolve fitment and a few other issues.

Now I plan on going for the 1x120 or 2x120 rad instead of the dual heatercore and it MIGHT fit in my case, if not I can use the radbox and mount it on the back for a clean look. The 655 pump will replace the pond pump and res tank. Since it's an inline pump, no tank is needed and I can use a micro res or a T line so that greatly reduces clutter and makes installation much easier.

Overall, I'm only out the $10 I paid for the heatercore which can still be used if needed. I only had to put $8 or so more into the pump to get the 655 so to me it's a win/win. I just need to get a good rad now and assemble! It's a shame I don't have access to a torch so I could sweat new fittings on the heatercore as I could still use it, just not as it's configured now.

The heater core is being replaced with a MCR220 and 2x120mm fans, it's already on the way and should be here soon.

I'm still shocked with the price overall too.

$45 for the pump
$40 for the MCR220 with the radbox and 2x120mm fans
$30 for the Apogee GT and I got a 2nd Apogee with loads of parts for $20. I can probably resell the 2nd Apogee and get most of that $ back!
I got tubing, fittings and clamps at lowes for under $12 total

Hell, I may put together the 2nd Apogee with the heater core, get another pump and sell it off as a complete system.

I definitely think this will accomplish my goal of equaling a TRUE at cooling my Q6600.
