I set Hard Drive as my #1 boot device and the comp will of course boot up from my SATA HDD without issue. However I don't see the SATA HDD recognized anywhere else.
chances are its the jumpers, check with the manufacter settings on them and change them accordingly to what you want them to be.

I attempted to do what you said with repairing windows, but it didn't find a hard drive and had to quit.

As far as the jumpers are concerned, I s'pose I can mess with them, but it worked perfectly a few days ago with the same jumper setting.

I would recommend you do repairs from CD with only one hard drive attached, because there is an off-chance that XP, in its pseudo-superior intelligence, will mark the drive as D:. This is the case with installs, but I am not 100% sure about repairs etc.

If unsure, just go with one drive. It's easy to reinstall a drive, but it's a pain to remap an OS to C:.

Man, I've turned off my comp one day and the next day a drive was gone. Thought the worst of course, but the day after that I jacked with the jumpers and poof, in BIOS it was. IDK if I'm alone on this one, but my comp does random stuff like that. I hail jumpers and J2T for them

I have the same setup (seagate SATA as C:, a DVDRW and an ATA on the IDE channel) and had the same problem. You have to make sure that the BIOS is set to "boot from SCSI" as your first device and make sure that you aren't sharing resources between the SATA and the IDE controllers. Thats about all i know, as i just did trial and error until i got settings that worked right.

When you boot from CD you have to press F6 or F7 or whatever to tell windows that you need to load an external SATA driver in order for it to be able to see the SATA drive.

Good luck

My best option for 1st, 2nd, etc Boot Device in my BIOS is 'Hard Disk.' There is no specification for SCSI.
As I am posting from the computer right now, my SCSI drivers have been installed and everything. It just seems like when I plug in the IDE drive the computer forgets about my SATA drive and tries to boot from the ATA.

Stupid computers.
