try running memtest on it

Memtest86.com - Memory Diagnostic

however it is more than likely a driver issue that is causing the problem.
if you can get into safe mode remove the vid card drivers and let windows boot again using the stock drivers. have you recently installed any new software?
does it happen randomly or at a specific time while playing a game or anything?

Dont do that untill you have exhausted all other solutions....

I dont know how to remove video drivers. :bozo:

It doesnt happen at any certain time. It is very random. I found a link on the Windows site about a Hotfix for this problem. I sent in a request for the fix. Im not very computer literate so Im trying to do this the simplest way possible.

to remove video drivers go to start / run / put devmgmt.msc in the box and click ok. you will see display adapters, double click it and then whatever is under it right click on them and click uninstall. reboot and let windows load the default drivers for it.

It's the blue screen of death. Happened to my old PC recently. The hard drive was completely messed up. I got a new one from eBay and that got damaged in the post. Luckily the guy is willing to replace it for me. Try re-installing Windows XP. That was what I first tried which helped me to find that my Hard Drive was bust!

Try restarting in safe mode by pressing F8 when the computer is just about to boot up XP. If you recently installed new drivers or software, try removing it. If you are overclocking, turn that off.
