Which is basically the same story with Macs. I haven't had a virus in about 8 years, but I think that is in large part do to just some basic awareness when using a PC. I have had neighbors and friends infected with numerous viruses, but that was mainly due to their kids just clicking and opening up anything.

Virus scanner is good but a good hardware firewall is probably more effective protection on high speed internet. You just have to have a good idea what is not safe to open in the first place.

About the Firefox "exploit":

Quote:
San Diego (CA) - The much reported Firefox vulnerabilities and exploits from the Toorcon computer security conference appear to be greatly exaggerated. A pair of hackers claimed to have found 30 undisclosed vulnerabilities on the popular browser and even boasted that they could execute malicious code. Now, one of the hackers, Mischa Spiegelmock, has apologized for the talk, saying that its main purpose was "to be humorous".

So yeah, that's good news Idiot hackers...

Yeah that is true... I have a wireless router, so I just let that act as a firewall rather than install annoying software that prompts you every 2 seconds.

Well, after going though two 30-day trials of NOD32, I decided that I didn't feel like paying for it, lol. I switched over to AntiVir and it caught a trojan (keylogger!) that NOD32 missed. The real-time scanner can also be easily disabled if I want to save resources for gaming (unlike NOD32). Needless to say, I'm sticking with AnitVir now. Glad it's free.

Also tried out this free online scanner from TrendMicro, and it caught 2 more things: housecall.trendmicro.com/

I don't think I'll ever pay for a virus scanner, hehe.
