AMDs

What is the difference between the Sempron, Athalon, and the new Turion?

i jut got a computer (which is a bit more then i need, ill admit) that has the new Turion 64 in it. I was thinking of returnign the computer gfor something a bit more reasonable to my neads, but m,ost smaller computer have the Sempron, i have knowticed.
So, what is the real difference between the different AMD processors? or is there any, other then they just change teh name after so much time/improvement?

From what I understand, the Sempron chip is comparable to Intel's Celeron (celery) and isn't that good. The Athlon64 line is comparable to Intel's P4 line. And the Turion has the power-saving features and is comparable to Intel's Centrino line.

Of course, the AMD cpu's have the on-die memory controlers and are totally different chips than the Intel chips, but they're roughly comparable in expense and performance (by manufacturer...ie Athlon>Sempron, P4>Celery)...

Sempron is for entry level market. It is one of the cheapest processor available in the market. Then its flagship athlon which is the mainslay processor of AMD brand. Turion is for the notebooks.

ya rightly said guys, turion is for notebook PCs and I think athlon really rocks, have nice L1 cache which is present within the processor, most of the other processors have only L2 cache, so this one really rocks for me

Nice information. I am also confused between these three different models of AMD processor. I know about the Turion that it is using in the notebooks but not about rest of two.

Thank you !!
