Nice, 4L80E has always been a great tranny, stout. Did it have a 4L60E before?

Oh and I assume you're going to program in new shift points and all right? Stock points weren't great for performance.

Yeah it was a 4l60e, which suprisingly held up for so much abuse. i did take very good care of it but i also overloaded it a few times where it was really scary. the last time i really over worked it was when i moved from michigan to arkansas. i had loaded all my shop equipment in the back of the truck which put it on the rubber axel stops just from the weight of the load itself.
But then i had to haul a full size trailor with my car which was full of stuff also. so the tires were bulging really bad. i thought for sure they were gonna blow. i had like 55 pnds in them and they looked like they had about 10 pounds in them. i drove it that way for 1000 miles. every bump was like going thru a field of land mines. I was sure something was gonna break, i mean how could it hold up to that weight? I had no choice though, this was my last trip to remove my property. as it was i had to leave my perfect condition leather couch and several other items that i just didnt have room for.
when i finally got to arkansas and pulled into the driveway i had such a relief. it was the most intense road trip i had ever been on. 18 hours it took to make it. when i got out all i could say was never again.

it has a HD yank stall convertor now so it will definately all be retuned.

Damn. That is both fascinating and scary, given my history with the 4L60E. My old S-10 gave me alot of grief over slippage and other odd behavior, but my wife's S-10 blazer was fine. I am REALLY surprised you didn't have a blowout as well!

Sux for the couch...we're on the market for one right now as well..

it's true! it's true! I was afraid we were gonna have to stop along the way to drive the seperate vehicles instead of hauling the car. for the truck!

i dont think the transmission will be a problem really. the 4l80e will have a hd yank convertor so that should hold up to anything i can throw at it.
i worry more about the bottom end on the block blowing out then anything.

i would have been happy with just the stock 6.0 swap more than likely considering my old motor only had 255 hp at the flywheel stock and the 6.0 has 325.
ill hopefully have some more pics up soon. the truck is coming along well and it should be running this week i think.
