Wow, dude, that sucks!

I keep all of my computers on multiple surge protectors, and I haven't had any problems. I've had 3 surge protectors on this comp when lightning struck the transformer right out side of my house (literally 30 feet from my comupter), and it survived! It was even running at the time!

My mom's computer, however, wasn't so fortunate... it was on one surge protector (built into power strip), and it's had stability problems ever since (I think something's a little off with it)... but it was off when the lightning struck, so I dunno....

Anyway, them'd be my lightning stories...

Good luck gettin' everything runnin'!

Seems that only the computers on the floor were affected, any on tables or stands were not affected...lightning came up through the concrete? or so it would seem.

maybe the concrete has moisture on it to carry a charge across it?

It is indoors with carpet on it...
and I am VERY mold intolerant - I am Allergic to it - I would Know if it was wet.

Well I bit the bullet today and ordered 2 new prebuilt computers for my kids...Pentium4 3.06 GHZ with 1 Gig of ram with XP Pro.

One replaces one from the first post in this thread.
The other replace one I worked on last night...was working when I went to bed but will not boot today...nothing at all no beeps...bet I put too much AS5 on the processor and shorted it out.
