Meh, problem solved!
GPU was shorting out or something... a fan had fallen on top of the graphics card and messed something up... as soon as I bumped the case with my foot (case is under the desk serving as a foot rest now... no room on desk to display it), the fan fell off and it went back to normal. I can see from my screenshots that it didn't show up red like that... it's kinda creepy...
Anyway, it's all good now...
